So many people know that theoretical physicist Albert Einstein was Jewish. But many people don’t know that he turned down the opportunity to be Israel’s first prime minister in 1948. It was a great honor for him to receive the offer, but he believed that David Ben Gurion was a better candidate.

The Middle East isn’t exactly the friendliest region towards the LGBT community, but luckily Israel is an exception to that. The city of Tel Aviv has hosted the Pride Parade annually since 1979 and attracts crowds in the hundred thousands. Does it even need to be said that Israel is the gay capital of the Middle East?
