Ah, the 70’s was a magical time in so many different ways. We had wonderful fashion, amazing hair styles, and of course — the whole disco movement. Hollywood entertainers perfectly paralleled the era and we’re going to highlight them today. Listed below are 20 famous women of the 70s and what they look like today!

Jane Fonda

Her name is almost synonymous with the ’60s and the ’70s. Jane Fonda made her name in both film and the political realm, notably becoming a lightning rod of controversy for her stance on the Vietnam War. Fonda is still going strong today as she is the lead in the TV show Grace and Frankie.

Cybill Shepherd

Shepherd went from a beauty queen in high school to a model on the cover of Glamour Magazine where she modeled designer clothes. Shepherd went on to star in such classic films as The Heartbreak Kid and Taxi Driver. Shepherd is a Hollywood mainstay with thre Golden Globes to her name.

Faye Dunaway

This Florida native scored a role in one of our favorite films from the ’70s – Chinatown. Dunaway’s star surged in the late ’60s and ’70s and she has continued to work today. Dunaywa has appeared in over 100 different films in her career and she has an Oscar to her name.

Charlene Tilton

Charlene Tilton is most well known for her work in the film Dallas but she went on to do quite a few things in her career. Tilton experimented in ’80s pop music, hosted Saturday Night Live, and even posed for Playboy.

Dolly Parton

Parton went from singing to acting and nobody blinked an eye. Still, Parton is one of the most prolific country singers in the world and she has become a longstanding musical icon. Parton has been nominated for two Oscars in her career — not to bad for a Tennessee gal. Though, we still can’t forgive what Parton did to 70s womens fashion.

Jodie Foster

In the ’70s Jodie Foster was just a kid actress kicking rocks in films like Taxi Driver and, wait, no that’s actually very impressive. Jodie Foster highlights what 70s stars then and now want to say: that they went on to have prolific and successful careers. Foster has done it all in her career but the multi Oscar winning actress is most well known for her portrayal of Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs.

Kate Jackson

Jackson starred in the Charlie’s Angels TV series from 1976 through to 1979. Jackson has had an amazing career and she has a handful of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations to her name. Jackson has starred in 58 projects throughout her career but she hasn’t done anything since 2007.

Raquel Welch

If you are looking for the ‘sex appeal’ of the generation then look no further than Raquel Welch. Welch was the the star actress of the ’70s. Welch has a Golden Globe nomination to her name and she has been in over 60 projects throughout her career. Welch is a well known entrepreneur nowadays due to her working with fashion designers and skin care products.

Maggie Smith

Before she was Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter, Maggie Smith was an award winning actress known for a plethora of different gigs. Smith’s first big claim to fame was in The Prime Miss Jean Brodie which released back in 1969. Smith has a pair of Oscars to her name and as well as a victory over cancer which she fought while filming Harry Potter. Smith recently starred on the hit TV series Downton Abbey.

Loretta Swit

Loretta Swit isn’t a hosuehold name nowadays but she is one of the finest actresses of the ’70s. Swit pursued the acting world despite her parents protests. Swit started acting at 7 years old and eventually won a pair of Emmys for her work on the hit show MASH as Major Margaret Houlihan. Swit has also dipped her toes into a variety of different post-filmmaking worlds which include custom jewelry, painting, and even activism.

Olivia Newton-John

Oh man, Olivia Newton-John owned the ’70s and the ’80s. Olivia starred in the classic musical film Grease before trying out the acing thing for a little bit longer. Still, we’re always going to love Newton-John for ther contributions as a singer. Olivia has had her voice used in over 100 different movie soundtracks.

Candice Bergen

Candice Bergen was hot stuff in the ’70s as she exploded into the entertainment world as both a fashion model and an actress. Bergen would go on to land five Emmy’s and a pair of Golden Globes for her work on the hit show Murphy Brown. Bergen has stayed busy in the acting world and is slated to co-star with Warren Beatty in Rules Don’t Apply.

Kim Basinger

Kim Basinger started out as a model before moving into acting. Basinger starred in Charlie’s Angels but had her big break out in the Bond film Never Say Never Again. Basinger is a storied performer with credits in legendary films like L.A. Confidential and Batman. Most recently we saw Kim star in the ’16 critically acclaimed film, The Nice Guys alongside Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

Barbra Streisand

You don’t have to be the biggest actress in town when you are the voice of a generation. Barbra Streisand has a historic career that spans over 60 years of work. Streisand has nine Golden Globes, five Emmy’s, and more Grammy’s than you can hold with both arms. Yeah, Streisand ended up doing alright for herself.

Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep is a seemingly timeless performer and her credits surely back up this thought. Streep kickstarted her career in 1971 with a breakout role in the film The Deer Hunter and the rest was history. Streep has been nominated for more Academy Awards than anyone else in film history — not too bad, right?

Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer used the ’70s to prime herself for what would turn into quite the amazing career. Pfeiffer made her TV debut on Delta House and five short years later she would be starring in Scarface. Pfeiffer reached critical mass for her work in Batman Returns and now she has had 3 Oscar nominations to her name. Pfeiffer continues to work in Hollywood and right now she is attached to an unnamed Darren Aronofsky Project which could be huge news for her career.

Goldie Hawn

Hawn went into the ’70s in style after having won an Oscar in 1969 for her work in Cactus Flower. Hawn continued her success in the ’70s with a string of great projects including The Banger Sisters and Death Becomes Her. Hawn has been picky in regards to the work she chooses and as such has only appeared in two projects since 2002.

Jane Seymour

Jane Seymour made it to the big time in 1973 when she became a Bond girl in Live and Let Die. While the ’70s launched her stardom it wasn’t until 1993’s Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman that Seymour found her true success. Seymoure starred in the hit TV show for five years before moving on to other projects. Seymour has starred in 131 projects throughout her career.

Brooke Shields

She rotated successfully between modeling, TV commercials, and film work like it was the easiest thing in the world. Shields has been nominated for two Golden Globes while also dominating the TV world in Suddenly Susan. Shields continues to be active in the film world and she has racked up almost 90 credits so far to her name. Shields is most well known for her series of Calvin Klein commercials.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Is there anything that Jamie Lee Curtis hasn’t done? Curtis got started in the late ’70s and she was quick to start finding work — landing a leading role in the series Operation Petticoat. Curtis leveraged her success in the ’70s into starring roles in films like Halloween and A Fish Called Wanda. Curtis continues to be a mainstay in Hollywood and she has already landed two Golden Globes so far in her career. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the talented actress add a couple more before she decides to step away from the stage.
