Fun fact – Dolly joined a Halloween Dolly Parton lookalike contest out on Santa Monica Boulevard and….she didn’t win! Nope, not a typo, you read that right! See, Parton overexaggerated her look just by making her beauty mark bigger and her hair higher – so much so that none of the men in the contest even recognized her. Hard to believe that Parton lost her own lookalike contest!

Now here’s one that will make you really realize that you can draw inspiration from just about anywhere. Parton found inspiration for her over-the-top make-up, dress-ups and massive air, believe it or not, from one of the ‘ladies of the night’ in her hometown. “I had never seen anybody, you know, with the yellow hair all piled up and the red lipstick and the rouge and the high heeled shoes, and I thought, ‘This is what I want to look like.'”
