Time To Go For A Hike
Probably the best idea right now if you’re feeling the need to explore is to get out into nature. Unless you’re under a strict stay-at-home order, there’s nothing stopping you from getting some fresh air and taking in the sights of the natural world by taking a hike somewhere nearby. Since it is highly unlikely to catch the virus while you’re outdoors, this is a great way to scratch the travel itch, even if it isn’t so far away from home.
Rack Up Airline Miles
Okay, hear us out. We know that it’s very unclear as to when we will all start taking flights and resuming the jet set life once again. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare for the future when that will be a possibility once again. This is especially the case if you have a Traveler Rewards program with your credit card. If not, try to see if your bank has a similar plan to sign up for. That way, at least you’ll accumulate some points and be able to use them once flights are fully back.
Prep For Future Trips
This might fall into the category of wishful thinking, but a great way to get excited about travel is to plan future trips out. Instead of leaving it for the last minute, you can come up with elaborate and details plans of where you’d like to go and everything you’d like to see there. This is a great way to look forward to the future when things have (hopefully!) gotten better and maybe back to somewhat normal. Check out travel videos on YouTube and live vicariously through the vloggers in the meantime. Maybe you’ll find a new place to travel to that you’ve never thought to see before.
Time To Finally Scrapbook
We all have endless travel photos that we’ve been “meaning to get to one of these days.” Well, say hello to “one of these days”! It’s finally the time to print out some of those nice photos and start that scrapbook or photo album you’ve been meaning to make. This is a great way to reflect upon and appreciate all the traveling you may have done before and relive the memories through photos and any other mementos.
Learn A New Language
This is a great opportunity to finally make some progress with any language you may have been wanting to learn. You can start by using apps like Duolingo or opt for online Zoom lessons with a tutor. This way, once we can travel again, you can head over to whichever country speaks the language you’ve learned and you can practice by being fully immersed. In the meantime, you can always find a language exchange program online to practice your speaking skills.
